Nothing about your face leaves your phone

Last updated 21 October 2026

Face-It is a mobile game you play with your face. This policy explains what the app does with your camera, your microphone and your recordings, in plain words. The short version: nothing about your face leaves your phone, and the only thing that ever leaves your phone is a clip you choose to share.

What the camera is used for

Face-It uses the front camera to read your face while you play: whether you blink, open your mouth, smile, raise your eyebrows, and how your head is tilted. This reading happens entirely on your phone, frame by frame, and is discarded immediately. The app does not store face measurements, does not build a face template, does not identify you, and does not send any face data anywhere. No face data is used for advertising or analytics.

Recordings

While you play, Face-It records what is on the screen, including the camera image of your face, together with your microphone, so you can watch and share the clip afterwards. Recordings and clips are stored only on your phone, inside the app's own storage, and are excluded from cloud backups. You can watch, share, save to your photo library or delete any clip. The app keeps a limited number of clips and deletes older ones automatically.

Sharing is always your action. When you share a clip, it goes to the app you choose (for example a messaging or social app), and that app's own terms and privacy policy apply from then on.

Everything stays on your phone

All data the app creates, your clips, scores and settings, is stored only on your phone and is never shared unless you choose to share a clip yourself. Nothing is uploaded in the background, and there is no account to hold it. The one exception is the ads described below, which Google's ad service delivers when you choose to watch one.

Playing together

Two players can play against each other on two phones in the same room (Play together). The phones find each other on the local Wi-Fi or a phone's hotspot and talk directly to each other; nothing goes through the internet or to us. Only game events cross between the two phones: moves such as "blinked" with their timing, the score, whether a player is still in, the round's road (its seed), and the emoji the player picked. No camera image, no face measurements, no names and no recordings are ever sent. Nothing from the other phone is stored, and the connection ends when either player leaves. Each phone records its own clip, which stays on that phone like any other.

Purchases

Purchases go through Apple or Google; we receive no payment details. The App Store or Google Play handles the payment and tells the app which games you own; the app keeps that list on your phone so your games stay unlocked without a connection. There is no Face-It server and no account: Restore purchases asks Apple or Google again.

Ads

Face-It shows one kind of ad: when a good run ends, you can choose to watch a short video ad to keep going. There are no other ads: no banners and no ads that interrupt play. Anyone who has bought anything in the app keeps going for free and is never shown an ad.

The ads come from Google AdMob, which may fill them through Unity Ads. The ad service never sees the camera, your face, your recordings or anything the game reads from your face; the app gives it none of that.

Every ad request is set up for children, for every player, whatever their age: ads are rated for general audiences (G), marked as child-directed and as for users under the age of consent, and non-personalised. That means:

How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and policies.google.com/privacy. Unity's privacy policy: unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy.

Reporting a problem

The app keeps a small error log on your phone (at most 64 KB; older entries are dropped): when an error happened, the app version, the phone model and system version, and a technical line about the error. It never holds anything about your face, your clips, your runs or you. Nothing is sent automatically. In Settings, "Report a problem" shows you exactly what the log holds; it leaves your phone only if you tap Email (your own mail app opens with it, and you can read and change the message before sending) or Share the log. Crash reports that Apple or Google collect for all apps, when you have allowed that in your phone's settings, reach us only through their consoles, without anything that identifies you.

What we collect

Nothing. Face-It has no accounts, no sign-in and no analytics, and the app does not connect to our servers. Run scores and settings are stored only on your phone. The ad data above goes to Google and Unity, not to us; we see only totals (how many ads were shown and what they earned).

Children

Face-It is intended for players aged 13 and older. Younger children may play with a parent or guardian present, who should read this policy and accept the consent screen on their behalf. We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children: nothing is stored or sent by us, and the only thing that can leave the phone is a clip a person chooses to share, plus the ad delivery data described under Ads, which every request marks as child-directed. If you are a parent or guardian and want a clip deleted from a shared destination, please use that service's tools; nothing is held by us.

Permissions

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on request; everything is on your device and under your control. Questions about this policy: support.

Changes

We will update this page when the app changes in ways that affect your privacy, for example if a future version adds online leaderboards. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
